Don’t Forget Insurance Levies on the Baby List
Christina Johnson
Preparing the first time father,
with a jolt of reality,
may cause a rise
in insurance premiums.
The hormones raged
where vivid imagery,
escalated evening dreams.
Murmuring obscenities,
till the practice believable.
The week before the birth,
I scream mid-night rage,
"The babies coming, NOW!"
The baby was NOT coming now.
The first time father,
jolts upright,
at speeds unseen,
runs into the
window.
The thud enrages me,
disturbing rest well deserved.
I roll not only over,
but eyes too.
The father to be,
jarred/ alone/ sore/
a curled ball on the floor.
